On-Surface Polymerization

Together with the group of Leonhard Grill we discovered and utilized thermally induced Ullmann coupling of aryl bromides and iodides on nobel metal surfaces to develop on-surface polymerization as a general method to prepare otherwise inaccessible covalent 1D and 2D polymers.
